Alastair has a Masters in Publishing and completed his undergrad in English Literature (2.1) at The University of Aberdeen.

Alastair achieved straight A grades in English up to Advanced Higher.
Hobbies and Interests
My undergraduate focus was English Literature, so reading has always been a big interest of mine. I enjoy taking part in book clubs and attending book festivals, as well as spending my free time hiking and playing tennis. I am interested in crafting stories, prose, and creative writing. In a teaching context, I particularly enjoy helping students approach forms of story they may initially find intimidating – such as poetry and less contemporary prose fiction, like Stevenson – and develop the confidence to engage with them.
Ambitions
Background in full-time teaching. Experienced in helping first-year university students develop academic writing and university-level essay skills, as well as supporting National 5–Higher English students with exam technique, approaching and analysing texts, prose, and written factual sources. My ambitions are to learn strategies to support neurodiverse learners and students with challenges around focus and attention.
