Terms and Conditions
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the introduction of independent tutors by Caledonia Tutors (“we”, “us”, “our”) and the administrative services we provide in connection with tutoring arrangements between clients (“you”, “the Client”) and tutors.
By submitting a sign-up form, booking lessons, or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Caledonia Tutors introduces clients to independent tutors and provides administrative support in connection with tutoring arrangements.

- Client – the parent, guardian, or adult learner engaging tutoring services
- Student – the individual receiving tutoring
- Tutor – a self-employed independent contractor introduced by Caledonia Tutors
- Lessons – tutoring sessions arranged between the Client and Tutor
Services – the introduction of tutors, administrative support, and related services provided by Caledonia Tutors
Caledonia Tutors:
- matches Clients with suitable Tutors based on subject, level, and availability
- facilitates communication and onboarding
- provides administrative support and manages invoicing in connection with tutoring arrangements
Tutoring services are provided directly by independent Tutors to Clients. Caledonia Tutors does not itself provide tutoring services.
Caledonia Tutors does not guarantee:
- specific academic outcomes
- grade improvements
- examination results
Tutors introduced by Caledonia Tutors:
- are self-employed independent contractors
- are not employees, agents, or representatives of Caledonia Tutors
- are responsible for the delivery of lessons
Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between Caledonia Tutors and any Tutor.
Caledonia Tutors reserves the right to change or withdraw a Tutor where necessary (for example due to availability, safeguarding, or quality concerns).
- Lessons are typically delivered online unless otherwise agreed
- The Tutor is responsible for determining the structure and content of lessons.
- Tutors are responsible for lesson content and delivery
- Clients are responsible for ensuring students attend lessons on time and are prepared to engage appropriately in a suitable learning environment
Lesson fees relate to tutoring services provided by the Tutor at the agreed hourly rate.
Caledonia Tutors administers invoicing and payment collection in connection with tutoring arrangements.
Invoices are issued monthly in arrears unless otherwise stated.
If payment is not received:
- payment reminders may be issued
- where payment remains outstanding, invoices may be passed to a third-party debt recovery service
- tutoring may be suspended until payment is resolved
Clients must provide at least two full calendar days’ notice before the scheduled lesson time to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
- Lessons cancelled with less than the required notice may be charged in full
- Repeated late cancellations may result in a review of the tutoring arrangement

- Clients may pause or end tutoring at any time, subject to cancellation notice requirements
- Tutors may withdraw from tutoring with reasonable notice
Caledonia Tutors may withdraw its administrative services, including for safeguarding concerns, non-payment, or repeated breaches of these Terms
Clients agree to:
- provide accurate and up-to-date information
- ensure students are aware of lesson expectations and cancellation policies
- communicate respectfully with Tutors and Caledonia Tutors staff
Abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour may result in termination of services.
Caledonia Tutors takes safeguarding seriously and applies appropriate vetting and monitoring procedures.
For online lessons, parents or guardians remain responsible for appropriate supervision in line with the student’s age and needs.
Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to Caledonia Tutors immediately.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Caledonia Tutors is not liable for academic outcomes or examination results
- liability is limited to the fees paid for the services giving rise to the claim
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- any liability that cannot be excluded under Scottish law
Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
By using our services, you confirm that:
- you have authority to provide personal data for the student(s)
- you have read and understood our Privacy Policy
