Jessie is a 3rd year PhD student at Queen Mary University of London. She achieved a 1st Class with Honours in Physics (MPhys) at the University of Edinburgh.

Grades and Achievements
Jessie achieved AAA in her A-levels in Maths, Chemistry and Physics. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh after achieving a first class with honours in Physics. She is currently completing a PhD in Cosmology, studying the statistics we can measure from observations of our universe. She has been a co-author of 2 papers and is currently writing another where she will be the first author.

Hobbies and Interests
I really love to read to wind down after studying all day. I’ll read anything and everything, from both fiction and non-fiction. I also am an avid runner and enjoy long-distance running especially, doing a few half marathons every year. Of course, as I’m doing a PhD, I love my work and would also consider it a hobby as I really enjoy getting stuck into research. I enjoy teaching and demonstrating in University courses for this reason – it gives me an opportunity to share my passion for the subject.

Ambitions
I would like to continue my career in academia by finishing my PhD and getting another research position. I have a strong passion for research and teaching and so I hope to become a lecturer one day. I also would love to explore my field of research, cosmology, further as it is a wide-ranging field with lots to learn about!
