Rebekah is a 4th Year English and French undergraduate at The University of Glasgow (1st).
Grades and Achievements
Rebekah achieved straight A grades at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher French. She has been awarded multiple ‘best in year’ and individual course awards at university, including the ‘Patrick C Mitchell Memorial Prize’ for highest overall performance in French 2024-2025.
Hobbies and Interests
During my free time, I can usually be found curled up with a good book, playing piano, or catching up with friends over coffee or on a walk. I’m involved in church youth work, which I find really rewarding, and I love baking for my family and friends to relax when I get the chance! Whilst on my year abroad, I started pilates classes, which quickly became a new favourite as well. I have always been curious about different languages and cultures, so as well as French, I’ve studied beginners’ Italian and German, and I absolutely love getting opportunities to practise my languages. All being well, I’ll be taking a beginners’ Spanish elective in my fourth year and am looking forward to this. I went on my year abroad to Nice in the south of France, which has helped to foster an enthusiasm for travel and exploring new places and cultures too.
Ambitions
After I graduate, I know I want to have a career in which I can use French on a daily basis. I’m currently looking into going back to France to be an English language assistant in a French school or university, as well as considering roles in teaching modern languages, literary publishing and translation / interpretation.
