Grades and Achievements
Sumit achieved a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Stockholm University Sweden, MS in Chemistry from Arizona State University USA, MSc in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) India and BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta, India.
Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy walking and exploring Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside, cooking, reading, and I like spending time with my family at weekends. I also enjoy building clear, well-designed teaching resources, which has turned into something of a hobby in itself. I’m fascinated by how chemistry explains everyday things, from why food cooks the way it does to how new materials and medicines are developed. I also follow developments in scientific research and education, particularly how students can be helped to think like scientists rather than just memorise facts.
Ambitions
I want to keep helping students build real confidence in chemistry and achieve the grades they’re capable of, and to keep refining my teaching so that every lesson is clear and well-structured. Longer term, I’d like to continue tutoring alongside my research/career work.
