Calum is a final year Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Glasgow (1st).
Grades and Achievements
Calum achieved AAAAAAA grades in his Highers and an A in Advanced Higher Biology.
Hobbies and Interests
I spend a big chunk of my spare time playing or watching football and have done so since a very young age. I generally enjoy staying active and keeping fit, mainly through weightlifting. Additionally, I love reading (mostly fiction) to help me unwind and relax. Academically, I am very interested in cancer cell biology, specifically in processes related to metastasis. I have also spent time in the pharmaceuticals industry, conducting research in the early drug development process to help find treatments for human diseases. Outside of biology, I really enjoy travelling and immersing myself in different cultures.
Ambitions
Following my master’s degree, I am hoping to undertake a PhD in cancer biology, with a specific focus on understanding the molecular and cellular underpinnings of metastasis. Beyond this, I’d love to get into a career in translational science to help drive science into meaningful treatments for human diseases.
