Matylda is a 5th Year MPhys Astrophysics undergraduate at The University of Edinburgh (1st).
Grades and Achievements
Matylda achieved A*A*A*A in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Classical Civilisation in her A Levels. Matylda was awarded the Margaret Campbell Scott Scholarship, recognising outstanding entrance qualifications in Physics from a cohort of over 250 students during my studies at the University of Edinburgh. She also received the Certificate of Merit for excellent academic performance in Years 1 and 2 of her degree programme.
Hobbies and Interests
I love running and being outdoors – there’s nothing quite like a long run on the weekend
followed by a visit to a local bakery. I also enjoy hillwalking, and I’m always keen to explore
new places and meet new people! When I’m not outside, you’ll usually find me playing
video games (especially fantasy RPGs), listening to music, or baking.I study astrophysics, so I’m fascinated by space, data, and how science can help us understand the world around us. I’m also interested in science communication and making complex topics feel approachable and accessible to anyone.
Ambitions
I’m interested in working somewhere at the intersection of astronomy and programming, especially where data and technology can be used to solve real-world problems. After graduating, I’d like to gain some experience outside academia before eventually returning to pursue research. I’m also open to a future in science outreach – anywhere I can help make science more impactful and inclusive.
