Maya completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh in Biology, specialising in Immunology (2:1). She is now undertaking a Masters degree in Haematology at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Grades and Achievements
Maya achieved AAAAA in her Highers in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, French and Art. She then went on to achieve AAA in her advanced Highers in Biology, Chemistry and Art. She received the Most Distinguished Scholar Award from the University of Edinburgh for the highest grade in her year for the course ‘Clinical Immunology and Haematology’. She received a 2:1 in her Bachelors for Biological Sciences (Immunology).
Hobbies and Interests
I’m a very creative person, so I enjoy doing most things creative. I enjoy painting and drawing, writing stories, creating small videos with my friends and playing the recorder. I enjoy being outdoors, going for hikes and going running.
Ambitions
I am interested in applying my knowledge of science in a medical role, but that doesn’t directly involve patients. I am aiming to become a Clinical Haematologist and then hopefully a Consultant Clinical Haematologist, a role which acts as the bridge between laboratory work and patient care.
