Working as a tutor for Caledonia tutors has been my best job to date- especially as a student. It has provided me with work experience that is useful and relevant on my CV when applying for internships and super curricula programmes, and has allowed for me to build on my administration skills greatly (especially when it comes to writing emails and time management). Tutoring Maths with Caledonia Tutors has been such a rewarding and flexible role alongside my university studies. I was lucky enough to work with Caledonia tutors for 4 years whilst studying at the University of Edinburgh. From the perspective of an employee, the role worked really well in tandem with my studies. I have been a part of the Caledonia Tutors team for 4 years, working with many amazing students throughout. Helping students through some of their most important years is a highly rewarding role. I love being able to get to know the students and figuring out what learning methods work for them.

I arranged a a couple of maths lessons for my daughter, at very short notice, who was struggling a little with trigonometry ahead of a test. Her tutor explained things in an extremely easy to understand way and I will not hesitate to use her again down the line if needs be and would encourage anyone in the same boat to do the same.

Head start programme was excellent for my son. We did two topics – Chemistry and Physics. Gave my son a flying start and he got A’s in his Nat 5 prelims.

I found Caledonia Tutors as my son required additional help with school. We started with the maths Headstart course last summer and it was excellent. At first I was unsure that online lessons would work but it exceeded all expectations. We chose to continue on with the tutor throughout the year as my son’s grades improved and we wanted to keep them that way. Cannot be faulted, highly recommended.

Logan provided a really great experience on the National 5 Chemistry Headstart course. My S3 had slipped back from getting As to Cs but is now back on track. Highly recommended.

We have been using Caledonian Tutors for a few years now and they are always top quality. My daughter also did one of the headstart courses for Higher Biology last summer. This was an excellent way to get ahead as she basically covered the first few months of the higher course in a few weeks and Biology is now one of my daughter’s top subjects. Shona delivered the biology headstart (and we kept her as a weekly tutor) and she is excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend these headstart courses and tutoring in general.

The Headstart Course has helped give me confidence with maths and Daire has been a really helpful tutor. He covers the material well, making it easy to understand, and regularly practiced past paper questions which helped with revision ahead of exams.

My daughter was lacking confidence in maths, so took the Headstart course with Hannah last summer. Covering problem areas in Nat 5 gave Megan a solid base on which to start her Higher Maths course at school. She received weekly tutoring throughout the year, and Hannah was organised, approachable, and always able to find a way to help Megan work through topics she was struggling with. This support allowed Megan to walk into her exams prepared and with confidence. Thank you Hannah.

Meg tutored my daughter for Higher English for six months on and off. An easy relationship was established and Meg gradually challenged her to first stabilise and then improve, resulting in a band 1 A grade. This arose after her school teacher vanished, effectively never replaced. I have no doubt Meg’s tutoring utterly salvaged this particular Higher and gave my daughter insight into the undergraduate experience of studying English literature.

From a parents perspective, Tommy has been a fantastic help to my son in Nat 5 Engineering Science, hugely increasing his confidence in a short space of time.

Caledonian Tutors provided excellent tutors at short notice and for a very reasonable price. Following my daughters prelims in December, I requested Chemistry and Physics tutors and her marks increased by two grades when she sat her exams the 5 months later, there is no way she would have achieved this without Caledonian Tutors. Topics that her teachers were not able to explain in a way that made sense to my daughter who has dyslexia, became clear after tutoring.
